— Sky Sports Boxing (@SkySportsBoxing) June 11, 2023Lopez was the underdog heading into both bouts, and was especially questioned prior to facing Taylor.
Many fans and pundits were concerned about his mental state following recent underwhelming performances and interview comments.
He is also currently going through a messy divorce.
Lopez was also seen arguing with his father and trainer in an ESPN interview on fight week.
Remarkably though, when the first bell rang this all went out the window.
It was masterful display from the challenger who comprehensively outboxed and outfought the champion to take his title.
At one point in the latter stages between rounds, Lopez was seen having an emotional moment with his father in the corner.
Teofimo Jr said: "I love you." To which Teofimo Sr replied: "I love you too."
